The sequel to the book that I posted about yesterday, Maximum Volume: The Life of Beatles Producer George Martin: The Early Years, 1926-1966 – Kenneth Womack, was a worthy successor to the first volume of this two-part set.

It was interesting to read about George Martin’s work with The Beatles during the highly innovative and creative period of 1966-1970 before their breakup. It was fascinating to hear about the creative decisions made and the rocky road that began to be travelled as The Beatles slowly unraveled.
I really enjoyed hearing how George Martin fared after the Beatles and it was interesting to realize all of the innovative things that he was involved in, not only on the creative and production side of things, but also in regard to the recording business and the continuation A.I.R that began during that Beatles period.
To read about the development of their different landmark studios such as Lyndhurst hall, and Montserrat and the recording that was carried out at these places was a pleasure.
Again, I cannot recommend this book enough and strongly urge you to check out (paid link) Sound Pictures: The Life of Beatles Producer George Martin, The Later Years, 1966-2016
