I have had a rack, the (paid link) RIVECO POMU 12U Network & Stereo Rack with Caster Wheels, for about 8 months that houses my PC and some outboard gear, audio interface, compressor, equalizer, and a digital effects processor, but have not made use of anything in it except the PC and the audio interface. The truth is that it is shoved under a desk, and it is a complete pain in the ass to get to the back of it.

So, I bought a patch bay about 6 months ago to make it easier to access from the front. In order to do that I needed to get the rack out and patch all of the inputs and outputs into the patch bay. I was too lazy to do that and so it has been sitting there all of this time without being used. The patch bay that I purchased was a (paid link) Black Lion Audio PBR TRS Patch bay.
Yesterday I finally managed to get the rack out and mapped all of the I/O ports to the patch bay, making myself a scruffy, scrawled plan of what went where. Then added I labels to the front of the patch bay indicating all of the appropriate ports.
Now all that remains is to make use of it. I will have to look at routing from Cubase to ensure all of the ports from the Audio Interface are available and then make decisions on how to use the outboard gear, whether inline or using sends.
Fun stuff and lots of experimentation ahead. I will keep you updated if I have any success.
