So Many Instruments

, ,

I have been collecting all sorts of random instruments over the last few months and now have a collection that fills totes in the garage, almost raises the bed in the air from the number hidden away there and covers the walls and almost every other space in the house.

The problem is I cannot remember what I have acquired, where an individual instrument be, and in many cases what they are even supposed to do.

There is a mix of stringed instruments, such as violin, banjo, Persian sitar, lap steel guitar, numerous guitars, lute, lyre, and many more

There are other random things like an accordion, pan pipes, flutes and whistles, ocarina, kazoo, and so on.

Then there are the percussion instruments. There are so many. They range from things like claves, maracas, castanets, scrapers, bongos, tom-tom, snare, bass drum, hi-hat, ride cymbal, to such things as xylophone and glockenspiel.

This is certainly not an exhaustive list and there are so many that I do not even know what they do, but it is very cool to have all of them.

I am looking forward to exploring the sounds and timbres each are capable of and how I can utilize them in my musical endeavors. I also look forward to being able to share some of the weird and wonderful things that I have hidden away.
