I am a Steinberg user, making use of both (paid link) Steinberg Cubase 14 and (paid link) Dorico 6. I am also by force of finances, a Windows user. I have a PC and a Laptop both running Windows 11 and have both Cubase and Dorico installed on each of these. I do however have an older (paid link) Apple M1 iMac that is currently underutilized.
I am considering installing (paid link) Dorico 6 on to that as well as I believe that I can install up to 3 copies on different personal computers.
Since the iMac has limited storage, I will not be able to use Cubase 14 on it, and the RAM would very quickly become limiting, but I am going to look at installing Dorico 6 on to the iMac. It is smaller and I am sure not so RAM hungry as having myriad tracks running VST’s would be.
I hope that the installation process is easier than I have experienced with the Windows 11 computer. The laptop was not too bad, but on my main machine I was unable to install the Steinberg download manager and so had to install Cubase 14 and Dorico 6 piecemeal, installing each component separately.
I will first look at the Steinberg Download Manager and see if I can get that downloaded and installed and then hopefully it will all be plain sailing from there, although I may need to run an extra audio interface to give me audio output as I am not sure that Bluetooth headphones will work with Dorico as I had that experience with Cubase 14 and required wired headphones.
So, I will give it a go and see how I get on. Further updates will follow if I am successful.
