Scoring to Movie

I have now arrived at the final project for module 5 for the Mastering Orchestral Composition with Spitfire Audio from ThinkSpace Education.

What have I learnt thus far in this module?

This module has been very interesting and has included material on video, codecs, and timecode. It then moved on to the syncing of picture in Cubase and ensuring that the DAW timecode is synced and locked to the burnt in timecode of the picture.

The idea of spotting the film for soft and hard hit points and the use of tempo maps and markers and methods to adjust things so that major hit points fall in appropriate places or on particular beats such as tempo adjustments or the addition of bars of a different time signature.

Following an extended scoring demo by Guy Michelmore the module has moved on to the point of the final project.

We have been provided with a video (about 3 minutes long) with no soundtrack. The task is to get everything setup and synced in the D.A.W. and then to write a composition that guides the visual narrative through the music.

I have everything set up in the D.A.W, so now I need to start spotting and then work on the music. I think that this is a very interesting project and I am looking forward to getting immersed in this project.
