I really enjoyed this autobiography by George Martin, learning more about his training, his work with The Beatles, and everything else that he did.
It was fascinating to get an insight into his early life and training and how he came to be involved with The Beatles and how his skills and talents complemented them so well. I really enjoyed reading all his humorous anecdotes.
In addition to the wealth of information about how he came to be involved in the music industry, there was a lot of information about the recording process at the time and the limitations that he needed to overcome, both in the industry itself, challenging the reigning bureaucracy, and in the technical and creative aspects of the music that he was producing, in particular with the Beatles and the ever increasing pressures they put upon him to realize the music they heard in their heads.
Despite concentrating on Sir George Martin, there is plenty of interest here for the Beatles fan, especially those wishing to understand more about how the creative process was brought to life.
I do not necessarily agree with the subtitle of the book ‘The Inside Story of the Genius who Created The Beatles’, as I do not think anybody created them but themselves, however, in much the same way that each member of The Beatles was the perfect complement to each other, so was George Martin the perfect producer and collaborator for them.
