Composers Companions – Important Things

I have been thinking about some strange things that aid me in my quest to become a composer. They are not the usual things one might think of, but to me they have both been important things that have been introduced, that I did not think of as being beneficial to being able to concentrate on learning and composition.

So, don’t laugh at these two items. Well, you can if you like, but I doubt any can deny their importance. I got both on Amazon so didn’t even need to leave the house.

The first is a new coffee machine. Having that first cup of coffee in the morning, and all the following ones too if the truth be known, are important in waking up and in being able to concentrate on work.

There is nothing like working or learning with a cup of coffee beside you to keep you alive and motivated.

The coffee machine is one where I can make espresso coffee, my favorite, but it also has a spout to steam milk, or half and half to make lattes, cappuccinos, or breves. It is a (paid link) Keenstar 3.5 Bar Espresso Machine with Milk Frother and was very reasonable priced and I got a nice funky blue color.

The other invaluable item acquired of late is some new lights for the kitchen and dining room that mean that I can now see to make those important cups of coffee, and they throw additional light into my work area so are double useful. They are (paid link) Hepside Low Profile 12Inch 28Watt lights with 3 different brightnesses.

A strange post maybe, but sometimes those items we do not think of can enhance our work environment, our work day, and give us increased motivation and energy.

Thak you for coffee (and light).

Thanks for your comment. I agree totally, and oftentimes they are not necessarily the tools we first think of.

        My pleasure, and I agree.

I have to agree, coffee and lighting are essential! Not strange at all! I also place great importance on both those things to aid my composition work. Some would say I’m a bit fixated on those things. Must be a composer thing!

It could certainly be a composer thing. I do believe that it is important to be comfortable and relaxed in your composing environment, and that includes coffee at hand and the ability to see. Thank you for your comment. I am glad see others share those same priorities.

You know after reading this I was actually grateful to the Philips light and the tea maker that gets me going after getting up!!! Thanks for adding this perspective😊

Thank you for the comment. It is interesting how we do not give enough significance to things that make our work smoother and more productive, unless they are things that are seen as central to the process.
