I was noodling around on an acoustic guitar and found a pretty chord progression that I liked and thought I would share it here.
It has a nice descending pattern where the top note of the chord voicings descends adding some nice voice leading.
Initially I was playing with a D minor shape played at the 5th fret, so an F# minor triad but with a D root. It turns out that this is actually a Dmaj7 chord and this is the start of my little progression.
In terms of chords the progression is
Dmaj7 – Amaj7 – G – F#m – Em – G – D – A – D – A7 – D
The specific chord voicings are as follows – I tried to generate this with Dorico, but my skills there are highly limited, so hopefully it makes sense.

I think that I will maybe play with this idea and move it to piano and then look at using it as a harmony for something.
Let’s see where it leads.
