Next Module – Scoring Movies

, ,

Having completed module 4 assignment for ‘Telling stories with music’ from the Mastering Orchestral Composition with Spitfire Audio from ThinkSpace Education, or at least as far as I going to go with the assignment – not entirely happy with it, but it could be worse – I am going to move on to module 5 ‘Scoring Movies’.

So, what does this module encompass, in broad terms?

The sections of the module are:

  • Introduction to Scoring Movies
  • The Art of Scoring Films
  • Video, Codecs, and Timecode
  • Syncing to Picture
  • Spotting the Film
  • Tempo Maps and Markers
  • Extended Film Scoring Demo
  • Final Project – Scoring Movies

I think this will be an interesting module and I am quite looking forward, although with a certain degree of trepidation, to the final assignment where there is a 3-minute piece of video which we will have to score to. I expect it will be very challenging, but I will no doubt learn a lot from it.

So, this is my immediate learning challenge and I welcome it, along with the New Year.

How are you starting the New Year.
